Hey Silvertip, you can park that purty tractor here any time

Well, here's a new one on me... ya know those butane lighters with the long neck?

Turns out they DON'T WORK when it's this cold. Probably the air pressure is too low. Little spit but no flame.

And I just used my last match to start a fire in the house (never housesit for someone who leaves everything for YOU to do... they didn't get any firewood either, and it's down to dregs).

On the plus side, if you sit in the sun, the thermometer claims it's +38. In the shade it's still -23. I'm not sure which one to believe.

If I park my tractor down there, how would I clean my sidewalk

Butane has to vaporize to work, and if it's below zero....

I always carry a Zippo, works no matter if it's cold or not, but I do have to make sure it has fluid, always have extra matches in the truck too. Been caught far from home in the cold 1 time too many

The local paper says it's -12 here now.
Wife got the truck started after it warmed up so much

I think it's a bug in the forum software -- it happens on other sites too. Sometimes one particular user just can't seem to stay subbed to a certain thread.

Anyway... just below the Page 1-to-infinity thing, there's Thread Tools -- did you try the "Subscribe to this thread" link in there?

You need a smaller sidewalk!

The lighter wasn't below zero, but the outside air temp was. The lighter was at about 35 degrees. It still wouldn't work. It's making a peewee flame right now. It's about 55 in here. Still -11 outside.

The propane burner is finally making a big enough flame to see, too, now that it's warmed up so much. My old trailer's propane never had this problem in the cold!

The zippo I found in the house didn't work. Same problem. Normally I'd have matches but I'm not usually keeping someone else's house warm, either! And I don't advise cutting firewood with a table saw.

Regular heat wave! Supposed to be -14 tonight. Since they were only 14 degrees off for last night (and 10 degrees off for the high), that means the real low will be -28.

Went from a cool -26 to a scorching -7 this morning! While doing chores I had to take off not only my coat, but also my face mask. Thought I'd roast.

We are a whopping 18.5 degrees, to the plus side, in this "Southern State".
