When would be best to visit Montreal this fall/early winter before cold? Oh, I'm coming from AZ so it'd be fun to see a Canadiens game too.

Anyone a fan (maybe help w/ a ticket or so) & know good bars to go after games, etc. I know nothing of the city, so any advice/books to read/etc. would be nice. I speak no French but I'll learn some before, if my brain still works enough yet (& after some good French wine - it won't matter what I try to say! Hahaa).

Ok, thanks for your time.

Go to the Montreal Canadians web site and buy your tickets online. As for recommending bars and restaurants there are thousands to choose from.i'd start at Crescent St between De'maisoneuve and St Catherine.

You might not know this but hockey is a big thing around here and all games are always sold out. Some games have more interest than others which make the tickets more expansive than their face value. There is a game against Pheonix on October 25th which might be interesting for you (and less interest over here against that team).

As for coming before the cold, since you're from Arizona, that would mean before September!!!

Thank you both for the info. I am a big hockey fan (played for yrs growing up & went to Switzerland in 80s to a hockey camp) originally from the N. East, so I'm used to the game. I'd like to get seats but not sure yet when I'll go. I wasn't sure if the bars in Montreal were as good as I've heard they are. Some people say they are overrated but I'm very bored of AZ vs back east, so it shouldn't take much to be better than nights out here. Ok, thanks again & if anyone has anymore info I appreciate it.

My best advice would be to buy tickets as soon as they go on sale, since every single Canadiens game has been a sell-out for many years. Do not wait too long.

Not sure when they go on sale though, or even if they are already on sale.
