Also Quebec will allow 100,000 in for 2022, with 70,000 being permanent. This is to make up for two years of low immigration due to covid + labour shortages. Great news and I hope we see levels of 70,000+ continue in 2023 onwards.

I really liked your cue on Vention’s c series funding. That is one of very few companies I would buy shares into at a high level. It’s unfortunate that private companies can’t be easily bought into at that stage of financing.

Also a really cool event during the Montreal circus festival downtown, includes acts on three steel giants.

Downtown Montreal bars fighting noise complaints; city offers $2.1 million plan

A new study released on Monday by the team behind NONSTOP 24/24 and the Sommet de la nuit conference on nocturnal culture found that late-night arts and culture events generate $2.26 billion in revenue for the city and support more than 33,000 jobs. The report shows that 22 percent of tourists visit Montreal for its nightlife activities. That means bumping nighttime tourism in the city up to 33 percent could inject an additional $676 million into the local

Although I've taken a backseat in city politics (never work during major burnout) the people I've talked to say that if all goes well with the SAT project, more will take place. I've also sent a proposal designating Crescent street, St. Laurent and St. Denis (Sherbrooke down to St. Cat) as designated 24/7 areas.

Hotel occupancy is looking great so far for major events + prices are exceeding 2019 rates as well.

-Canadian GP: (June 17-19) 97%
-Osheaga (July 29-31): 89%
-Jazz Fest (June 30-July 9): 85%

No idea for other events, but with mural in town the same time as the GP, JFL, Ile-Soniq and all the other major fests, I'm expecting 85-90% rates.

As expected with the first tourist season "post-covid" but also worrisome.

Montreal tourism industry may struggle to keep up with soaring summer demand

https://montrealgazette.com/business...-summer-demand

Some key takeaways though

- More tourists than expected
- Occupancy rates higher than expected
- 65 festivals in the summer time alone (this is only major ones, not counting smaller festivals)
- 250 business conferences scheduled
- Still a major labour shortage, but fewer vacant jobs than prior.
