If you mean about Gateway, the only thing I can say is what I heard directly from one of our major politicians a couple weeks ago. I was told that in 18 months, you won't recognize the Gateway area for all the development that is scheduled there. I'm not sure what he meant by that, but he hasn't been wrong yet with anything he has told me. I have to believe there are significant hotel and restaurant developments there in the final stages of development. It's just that the public announcements have not been made.

If you drive up to University Town Center it is easy to see how this can happen. There are half a dozen chain restaurants there, and they are all always full up with customers. That area draws a lot of out of towners from the Interstate, and that traffic is steadily increasing. Add that to the 2% per year local growth factor, that estimates say shows no signs of slowing during the next 15 years, and we can draw conclusions as to potential customer bases.

I heard similar news from a local developer. He said two more hotels and six restaurants within the next 2 years at the Gateway.

I agree. I believe that would be an excellent addition based on what I've seen at The Highlands.

I'm sure quaker steak would do quite well even though in my opinion there food is just average. Those places always seem to draw a crowd. I mentioned it earlier in this thread or maybe it was another thread but mt favorite would by a Hauf Brahaus although admittedly Morgantown might not be big enough to support it. Some other chains that I feel would easily be successful would be Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs, and Red Robbin. Like quaker steak I don't believe their food is that great but they are always packed and it would make financial sense.

Red Robins food is just okay in my opinion and PF Chang is overpriced for food that isnt as good as you can get at Peking House

Hofbrau Haus is only present in very large markets in largely Germanic areas like Pittsburgh. We don't have any place in our state that would support one, although Martinsburg would come closest due to the nature of the population around there.

I wouldn't imagine a chain like PF Chang's or Cheesecake Factory to locate there because they are more focused on larger cities. I heard that Quaker Steak and Lube was a sure thing. I would imagine that something like a TGI Fridays would work well there as well. Another Breakfast place might work as well like Ihop, Eaten Park, or worst case scenario Denny's.

Cheesecake Factorys are in large cities like Phoenix, and they are located near their large suburban population centers. We aren't going to be getting those in West Virginia. Personally, I'm glad we aren't getting one of those. Too many calories in their offerings. I don't think Chang's would offer anything of interest here. The Quaker Steak will work just fine, and another Eat 'n Park or Shoneys would be okay too. What ever works for the Interstate traffic.
