Among other things, the 6,500 members of the Mountaineer Athletic Club (MAC) provide donated funds amounting to $9 million annually for scholarships for the 475 student athletes those of us in Morgantown see on a daily basis on High Street, and jogging on our hiking/biking trails.
I scanned the past week through last Wednesday's paper and could not find it. It had been published twice in the previous month though. No big deal -- I just figured that since it was published as a a public tax info., then it would likely be a more accurate representation than any of the other cartoons that have yet been presented.
I actually just found it in the the last March edition, but right before I could screen cap it, my "free access" time expired. It's a black and white detail showing where the utilities will go and breaks down the land into parcels which are committed (mostly near the ballpark), uncommitted, and Phase III, which is the business park side. And that one had the diamond interchange with the roundabout, so I assume that's the correct plan.
Speaking of the ball park, the games there have been splendid. Large crowds for every game. Today's game against the #23 Oklahoma Sooners, which West Virginia won 6-5, was standing room with 2,832 in attendance. This is a great place to watch a baseball game.

I was there for that one. One of the best Mountaineer games I've witnessed. If WVU can be a perennial Top 25 team in the coming years the sky is the limit for this ballclub. That atmosphere will be among the best in college baseball.

It was awesome. That place was flat out rocking. This team is greatly improved too. We don't yet quite have the depth to hang with Oklahoma and the likes for three game series, but it is clear that talent is developing. It appears as though baseball games will be "events" sort of like mini football games, with tailgating and everything.
Big crowds continue to come out and support the Mountaineer Baseball Team, even though the win-loss record is not a stellar one to this point. This is a very young team that should be much improved next year. Tonight a crowd of 3,037 came out to watch WV take on Pitt.
With the school spirit, the great facilities, and the overall ambience of playing at this new ballpark attending the games has become an event. I believe baseball will be added to football and basketball as money generating sports at WVU in the coming years. Consistent great crowds show people are responding to the developments. Watch this video to see a great catch by outfielder KC Huth...
There were 3,037 fans at the game last night and the students were home. This place is going to be rocking next year.
