Well at least now I think I know where much of the premise of the movie came from aside from the tailgating of Alien/s. Yesterday I watched Expelled with Ben Stein and kept thinking, this so makes me think of how the concept of the movie Prometheus must have come together. Guess, I was the only goober left out of the loop till now. Darn, exploration of Intelligent Design. Those crafty um, something or other. Oh, I'm with you all on those little (MAJOR,) quirks in the movie with the helmit, petting the creatures, etc. Lots of eye roll moments for me as well.
This is a WOW movie...I saw the two original Alien movies before that they would forge my lifelong love of movies. These films transcended the science fiction I was used to seeing and offered a grown-up, more cynical and dangerous version of Star Wars, Star Trek and the like. So I was one of the first in line to get tickets to Prometheus which I hoped would reboot the franchise and erase the memory of the later inferior Alien films.

I'm not sure if the guy i work with knows what he's talking about, but he said there's a Ridley Scott interview floating around where Ridley says that the there will be 2 more films in the "Prometheus" trilogy. 1 of them will follow our alien at the end that popped out of th engineer, how it spread to other planets (to include the alien presence on Ripley's planet from Alien and Aliens).
he said the other movie will of course follow Dr. Shaw and the droid to "where they came from." Either way, I am super excited for whatever comes after Prometheus. Being a HUUUUUUUGE fan of the Alien series, I thought Prometheus was pure magic.
How do you guys think that the (potential) Prometheus sequel should play out?
I'm hopin' that Dr. Shaw ends up on that Engineers planet and unleashes that ship full of canisters on their world. That could be the point that explains how there came to be so many of these creatures.
we also never saw "The" Space Jockey.......the one sitting in his seat while the creature apparently burst out of his rib cage. I'm hoping that it was actually the Engineers homeworld that the Nostromos found in "Alien".
It was an uneven mix of stunning imagery and some terrible clunky dialogue and characterizations more suited to a b movie. It didn't help that not all the actors were of the same calibre.
I didn't hate it but was disappointed.
Agreed,
I was disappointed in the story as well and felt it was a bit weak.
watched this last night. Very wierd, though i liked for the visuals.
But the plot...really?
Spoiler
As I understand it. Large muscular blue people created us, then created a giant octopus. The octopus at the giant blue man and spit out an alien from the movie aliens.
