It looks good, and it'll be interesting to see what kind of villain Javier Bardem plays. But even though I'm excited about this film--best Bond film of all time has some pretty good competition as far as the classic Connery films go(or even the underrated ones like On Her Majesty's Secret Service or the over-the-top action of The Spy Who Loved Me).
But, I'm going to guess they continue on the path Casino Royale started and make this a darker, grittier more serious Bond film--sort of like Christoper Nolan's Batman films--which the article states as well.
I never understood why casino royale got such good reviews. I guess im a bit more into the classics because i like the older ones better. Jaws is still one of my favorite movie villains ever.
I actually liked Quantum of Solace better than Casino Royale. I've never understood why QOS got such bad reviews.
QoS was okay. Not a bad Bond flick by any means, but definitely a big step down from Casino Royale.
CR was awesome because it took Bond back to his roots in the Fleming novels. It got rid of the gadgets and made Bond rely on his cunning. Yet he still made mistakes and suffered for them. He was formidable but not super-human. QoS tossed out this latter element in particular and simply went back to trying to make a stunt-after-stunt-after-stunt action flick.
I'm definitely looking forward to Skyfall. But I'm still not completely sold, mostly because in every picture I've seen of Javier Bardem of the villain, he looks like a maniacal Thurston Howell III. But also because I've found Sam Mendes immensely over-rated as a director. He's good, but not great, at least based upon past movies of his I've seen.
I also still think Daniel Craig does not make a good 007, just doesn't have the right look.
I think he's the ULTIMATE Bond.
Personally, I was a little tired of the ultra-slick bond with the ton of gadgets. I thought the movies were becoming kinda cheesy much the way the Batman series became very cheesy with Danny Devito, Val Kilmer and then Jim Carrey. It never got as corny as Batman, but my point is that the Bond series is moving in a darker, more serious direction (like the Dark Knight), and I really like that. And I think Craig is the best man for the role.
I mean, c'mon, did you not fall out of your seat when Bond landed on the train and adjusted his cuff? Who wouldn't give to have that type of composure?
