I saw Avatar 2 out of curiosity. I regret it. Although it was relatively okay, the storyline was pointless and redundant. I was left feeling just like the first.

I hope Avatar 2 does well, if for no other reason that movie theaters need a win right now.
Man, I wish video games looked as good as Avatar. The point of the movie and the tech they used is to immerse you into a completely different world. The actors are rendered in real so the director and DP can see the actors as their avatars or digital doubles in their world. So it’s almost as if the Cameron is directing in another world.

And there’s face tracking aswell so the actors still have actually act out their scenes.

When you look at side by side comparisons between the actors acting and their digital counterparts their emotions match up. It’s pretty amazing.

There’s movies that use cgi as a crutch, there’s movies that use it to enhance a scene a bit, these movies are meant to blur the line between digital and reality.

The wife and I saw "The Way of Water" yesterday in 3D. We were both fans of the first Avatar, and enjoyed it. We both thought this second installation of the franchise was disappointing. It was entertaining, and the visuals were incredible but the plot was just lame, with holes so big a Tulkun could swim through them. It was cool to see all the new mech/hardware that the humans had, which I would love to see more of. When the third one comes out though, I think we will just wait to stream it.

I enjoyed the movie in 3D and am glad I saw it that way. I will probably go back to the theater to see the next one. I know the plot may be inferior but the visuals are stunning! I enjoyed it overall.

It is already the highest grossing film of 2022 and the 7th highest grossing film of all time.

Avatar 3 is already shot and 4 and 5 are already written according to James Cameron.

The naysayers are just wrong on this one.

A studio should hire James Cameron to make a movie about a viable cold fusion reactor. He'd spend so much money "getting it right" that he'd probably end up inventing the thing.

I'm still not impressed by 3D.

And 3D outright pisses my wife off. She was mad at me for buying 3D tickets to Avatar and sternly directly me to consult with her if I ever consider buying tickets to a 3D movie again.

Unfortunately, the experience with Avatar didn't change her mind and provided me with no pro-3D arguments. It's just not that much of an enhanced experience for us.

No kidding. DARPA should hire him for one of those EXO-32 Light Mobility Platform suits that Carmela was in.

3D is a solution in search of a problem. It's a gimmick.

I figured that if 3D was going to be impressive this year, it would be impressive in Avatar.

So, I gave it a shot.

But...meh.
