"The Pursuit Of Happyness" with Will and Jadan Smith. Outstanding movie, very moving and highly inspirational. Easily Will Smith's best performance. It should be a mandatory watch for all high school kids today.
The Paper Chase (1973) on TCM the other day. The title made me think the movie was about espionage but it's nothing like that. It was a very good movie about first-year Harvard students under enormous personal and academic pressure. John Houseman is memorable as the terrorizing professor. I love watching these older films with actors who look like normal people instead of a plastic doll.
Bizarre movie with a very young Don Johnson called "A Boy and his Dog" Post-apocalyptic Arizona with Don Johnson talking to his dog, and the dog telepathically talking back!!!!....a very horny Don Johnson more interested in getting laid, instead of eating...very interesting at first then got pretty crazy towards the end...the surviving population want Don Johnson to father the entire new generation...

Prisoners, The actors did a good job with what they had, but, I could only take about 20 or so minutes of this movie, so I fast forwarded through most of it. I am forever thankful I didn't see it in the theater.
Captain Phillips, interesting, sometimes tedious, heart stopping, heart breaking, sympathetic and all around sad. Not really a complete feeling of relief by the outcome. Found myself in tears for the Captain and, unexpectedly, for some of his captors and how the situation comes to be from the get go. It was an eye opener to say the least.
