Carrie (original) - very strange mix of the bizarre and the american highschool stuff, some brilliantly insane moments and some truly bland ones. Overall I enjoyed it, 7/10.
My husband and I had a rare day off so we drove in to the nearest town and watched Transcendents and Heaven is for Real - both excellent movies and we intend to purchase them both.
When we arrived back home, it was still early (for us), so we first watched I am Sam and then Cinderella Man - from our own collection. Back to work in a few hours so no more movies for a couple of weeks or so.
Lovely Wes Anderson film with oh-so-funny characters, lines; awesome sets and art direction. Beautiful costumes and such attention to pattern/color throughout the film. Such clever writing.....full of humor, such a pleasure to watch...
His previous film, Moonrise Kingdom, was also a wonderful movie.
The Other Woman, Just don't, one of the worst ever. It wasn't my pick and I did everything I could not to go running out the theater way before it finished. Just bad in every way. Maybe not in every way, I like the actors/actresses in it, just not the material.
The Quiet Ones. Supernatural flick, done excellently as both a Horror film and a Psychological thriller, in my opinion. Being a British flick, nothing is over the top as in American Horror movies of late..subtly and suggestion work wonders ...very loosely based on a true story..
Is the angry poltergiest a religious based demon or is it a manifestation of a psychologically damaged mind?
Also really fun is the time period shot the 70's with all the nostalgia up to and including polyester pants. Who doesn't love the 70's?
Great acting by good looking British cast, some beautiful scenes shot on location at Oxford University, and a creepy old house of course for the spooks.
This is outstanding 'Saturday Night at the Movies" material, make sure to catch it on the big screen. NOTE:
Make sure to sit thru credits for treat of more black and white creepy photos......this movie will keep you thinking, and wondering far after you left the theatre....
We watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty last night. It only got 50% on Rotten Tomatoes, but I really liked it. Ben Stiller and Kristen Wiig both do comedies that make me squirm, and there were a few moments of humiliation from the new boss, played by Adam Scott in a very odd-looking beard. But this was not Along Came Polly 2, don't worry.
Beautiful scenery too.
