Howdy, I am in real trouble & need the help of a film buff. I saw a film US made which was a romantic/drama. A youg man entered a cafe somewhere in a US city to buy something. The woman behind the counter was alot older, however the younger guy was attracted to her. From what I recall he drove her home which was the poorer part of town where she lived in a house on he own.I think she was divorceed with a kid living with her ex. Her relationship withe young guy developed, however she was concerned about the economic/social aspects of their relationship as he came from a well off family. He may have been a lawyer. I recall they had had a row with her, so he drove to here house & managed to flatten her mail box as he had a few drinks. She left town & moved to new york without telling him, however he managed through a girlfriend of her to track her down & I believe there was a happy ending.
Any thoughts on this film would be most appreciated, thankyou.

The title was White Palace with Susan Sarandon playing the older woman and James Spader her youngish attorney lover.
