Eric Clapton - My Father's Eyes (1998) - I can remember this song playing constantly on our local Hot A/C station in the Spring/Summer of '98. It was sad then, and especially now since both my father and grandfather have passed since.

Natalie Imbrugila - Torn (1998) - This is also from 1998. I've very rarely heard it after its run on the radio. I bought the CD a few years ago.

Deep Blue Something - Breakfast at Tiffany's (1995) - This received a lot of airplay while I was in crutches (due to twisting my leg when exiting a icy slide), and was my favorite song then.

There were many songs in the early '90s that were plenty dirgey, but one stands out to me as Top Dirge. It is a song from Seattle super group Temple of the Dog. The group had such hits as "Say Hello 2 Heaven" and "Hunger Strike" and featured vocals from both Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder.

It's a song called "Reach Down" which runs about 11 minutes long, so I doubt it got much airplay. Nonetheless, it's obscure, and if there's anything that may make you want to don some flannel when you have an urge for dirge, it's this one:

I know Temple of the Dog was a tribute to their late friend Andrew Wood, but I still don't know why they never got together again for a second album. Amazing music.

Madonna's "Justify My Love", I thought this was the worst of her singles.

Incredibly obscure:

Second Coming (ft. Layne Staley) - "It's Coming After"

The song is on Second Coming's L.O.V. Evil album.
