This one came to mind after watching the new show "The Bridge" on FX last night.
PJ Harvey "down by the water"
I never heard Hippy Chick, but that reminds me of "New Age Girl" by Deadeye Dick. Don't eat meat - but she sure like the bone!
Oasis - Don't Look Back in Anger (and most other songs of theirs)
Toad the Wet Sprocket - Good Intentions
Ben Folds Five - Brick
Squirrel Nut Zippers - Hell
Kings Missile - Detachable Penis
Man, someone mentioned Return of the Mack! and Be My Lover! It's like I'm at a high school dance again!

It's King Missile and that is a GREAT song, it's just so basic but great to listen too.
Don't hear anything by the Tragically Hip anymore, they used to get some airplay
Peter Murphy - "cut's you up" "indigo eye's"
Sinead O'Connor- "I am stretched on your grave" "mandika"
Rusted Root- "ecstasy" "send me on my way"
Early `90's rock `n roll at it's best. Liz Phair would go on to make other good records, but never again would she achieve the no holds barred song writing that she demonstrated in her first album.
I remember that song, heard it a few years ago on the 90's channel on Music Choice and immediately liked it, definitely doesn't get much recognition today
Other 90's gems I like that I rarely hear on the radio anymore are
Damn Yankees' "Where You Going Now"
Gina G's "Oooh Ah Just A Little Bit"
Jude Cole's "Baby It's Tonight"
Linear's "Sending All My Love"
Roxette's "Fading Like A Flower" and "Joyride"
Snow's "Informer"
Vitamin C's "Smile"
I Don't Want To Wait- Paula Cole
Where Have All The Cowboys Gone-Paula Cole
Ready To Go- Republica
Lucky Man- Verve (much better in my opinion than Bitters Symphony)
Angels- Robbie Williams
Back For Good- Take That
I Adore Mi Amor- Color Me Badd (plus many of their songs)
How's It Gonna Be- Third Eye Blind
Mummer's Dance- Loreena McKennitt
Mmmm Mmmm-Crash Test Dummies
Some of N' SYNC's songs are never played anymore, even though the Backstreet Boys have several well known hits that are played often.
Stand Touch Peel- Days of the New
I'm Free and Divine- Soup Dragons
Natural One-Folk Implosion
Fastball- The Way(not totally obscure but you don't hear it anymore)
Freshmen-Verve pipe
Informer-Snow
Step On-Happy Mondays
More You Ignore Me Closer I Get-Morrissey
Born of Frustration-James
Luscious Jackson-Naked Eye
Too Many Walls-Cathy Denis
I Love Your Smile-Shanice
Tonic-If You Only See
Better Than Ezra-Good
Call and Answer-Barenaked Ladies
One More Night-Amber
Celine Dion. - It's all coming back to me now.
Sarah McLachlan - Building a mystery.
John Popper - Blues Traveler, Run Around. Remember how popular that song was?
Amber - Sexual.
Boyz 2 men?? What happened to groups like that?
Blackstreet - No diggity. Always liked this one. Even back in 1997.
Natalie Imbruglia - Torn. This song was hot for awhile.
Rap/hip hop songs
I Wish - Skee lo, lol. I haven't heard that in years.
There's some other ones I'm forgetting.

That Celine Dion song is the rare song of hers that I like, and you do not hear that song at all. Must have been from 1996, the same year as "Because You Loved Me". But one is never played and the latter is played to death. Celine also had a early 90's hit with "If You Ask Me To", which was a Pattie Labelle remake.
Funny you mention Sarah McLachlan, that song is pretty great, as were several of her other songs. They had so much meaning. I was listening to her songs this past weekend before starting a busy week.
About that Blues Travelers song, remember some confused it with that "All for You" by Sister Hazel?
Amber had a good number dance type songs back in the day, my favorite being "One More Night".
I do hear Torn once in a while, but it was constantly on the radio.
That Blackstreet song is a classic, they also had another hit "Don't Leave Me Girl" in 1997.
