Tomarrow will be the 30th Anniversary of the death of Terry Kath. There was a very nice video created on youtube

YouTube - Terry Kath

To me this guy was/is Chicago. I personally believe if he had not passed, the band would be just as good as Led Zeppelin. But when he passed Chicago turned into the Peter Cetera Vocals. Don't get me wrong, I like the Peter Cetera songs, I like all of Chicago..I'm a HUGE Chicago fan. But its sad we couldn't see where it would have gone with Terry

If he had lived I think Chicago would have kept its rock edge instead of going kind of bubblegum.

Chicago was the first concert I ever attended, it was in '76. Thought they were amazing then, and still like to listen to them.

Yes, but would you listen to them 25 or 6 to 4 times a day while sitting crosslegged on the floor?

If you like the band and are ever in Chicago you can ride the subway north line to Fullerton-DePaul (I think) and there is a hotdog place right under the station that is full of their memorbilia and a jukebox full of nothing but Chicago songs. Definitley worth a lunch

Saturday in the Park might not be the strongest cut on Chicago V. I love State of the Union and Dialog 1 and 2. I am not a real big fan but I've seen them live a couple times and they put on awesome shows. And when they play the hits they're out there all night.Closing in on 40 years as a group and are HOF worthy.

I love Chicago; they are one of my favorite bands of all time. Their earlier stuff was the best by far. I don't think if Kaith would have survived that things would have turned out much different though. He wasn't some kind of god that would never waiver from trends. Cetera was the backbone of the band and was the voice of Chicago, imo. He was also an excellent bassist; something that he never seemed to get credit for. Have you ever listened to his driving bassline on some of their older tracks? It was phenomenal.

I agree that Chicago may have hung onto more of its jazz/rock edge if Terry Kath had lived. They kinda lost me with all those sappy, stringed ballads.

Chicago Transit Authority and Chicago V are really the only Chicago albums I'll ever need. "Dialogue" still sends chills up my spine after all these years.

No man, Chicago II is an amazing album. Tarry Kath was amazing but really Chicago was going downhill before his death, he was having some drug issues and contributing less and less to the band. He probably would have quit the band had he lived.
