If you're gionna force me to participate in this tired dsicussion I will pick Love, The Velvet Underground, The Replacements, Elvis Costello, The Talking Heads, REM, and the Kinks ahead of the bands listed. Too much credit is given to these bands and it is the usual baby boomer propaganda machine pushing through their agenda! We are tired of it!

I agree. There's just so many. That's why these conversations are so annoying. There's thousands of great bands beyond the usual. Most people are not adventurous enough to find them. They are regressive folks who accept whatever Clear Channel and Viacom want them to.
