I don't believe we have ever had a thread on David Bowie, or if we had I've missed it. For some reason, David Bowie does not get mentioned a lot on this forum, but you can't deny he has had an illustrious career. It goes back to the mid-60's as a matter of fact, as his earliest recordings were on Decca and Mercury. And in England, on the Pye label as well.
Ok, what is your favorite David Bowie song? Album? Ever see him in concert?
Maybe Bowie is so many different things to different people, because of the way he has reinvented himself, so he is hard to pin down and does not immediately come to someone's mind. I've enjoyed his collaboration with other artists, and love many of his songs, especially Rebel Rebel, Heroes, Fame, Changes and Under Pressure.
His Thin White Duke persona was so romantic if not especially healthy.
I also enjoyed his performance in The Man Who Fell to Earth, and the video he made for Blue Jean.
But I am not really a Bowie scholar.
Did you see the response he wrote to his first fan letter? (I think it is the real deal.)
My brother in law met him a couple years ago (business) and said he was a really nice guy, and that letter seems to confirm it.
I feel like maybe I have not given him a fair chance. I absolutely LOVE the Ziggy Stardust album and it's pretty much perfect in my book. But 'Low' and 'Hunky Dory both left me wanting more. Maybe more listens are required?

That's the way I am, there's some stuff I absolutely love and then some stuff that I, for whatever reason, just haven't gotten into. "Let's Dance" just sits on my shelf and collects dust, even with the twin guitar work of Nile Rogers and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
I got a chance to have a sneak preview of his new live album that is coming out next week and I didn't even listen to it, I just sort of glanced at the track listing and then handed it back to the guy who showed it to me. I'm not a big live album fan to begin with, there's a few exceptions, but if you like Bowie, you'll like this album, two discs, all the hits are there. The packaging was a little weak, but unfortunately, that's sort of the trend now anyway, isn't it?
Location: I never said I was perfect so no refunds here sorry!
