Yes he did have shining moments in his career.
Know many have already seen this clip with Bowie and Bing Crosby.

But your point on "shining moments" brought it to mind.

Quite a shining, defining moment to see him stand toe-to-toe, note-to-note with the Old Guard.

LOVE David Bowie! I believe before he became big his name was David Jones and he had to change his name because people were getting him mixed up with Davey Jones from The Monkees. Did you know David has different colored eyes?

Have any of you heard those 1964-1965 pre name change singles? They're pretty solid British R&B takes on American songs (obviously, a lot like what the Stones and Beatles cut their teeth on). I'm pretty sure Jimmy Page plays on at least one of those singles, but I can't remember which one.

Well IMHO he is the founder of the ''New Wave'' genri that took off in the late 70's and 80's and so i bow down to the founding father of my alltime fave genri . Some of my fave songs by him are .... DJ, Golden Years, Rebel Rebel, Modern Love, Ashes To Ashes and Loving The Alien is probably my alltime fave song and the 1983 album Modern Love is my fave album by him.

Look at him in his 1969 music video ''Space Oddity'' as he looks like an early 80's New Waver .
