Casual acquaintances abound. If you're looking for close friendships, well that's going to be tough anywhere. 1 or 2 truly close friends in a lifetime is all any of us can really hope for. If you've got a close circle of friends where you currently reside, stay there. We learned the hard way that moving damages friendships and replicating that closeness is a difficult task. In hindsight, we would have stayed back north with our circle and visited south for the winters.

Could always try Charlotte County too. It's mostly old people too here BUT not as quite as many from New England like there are in Naples. More from midwest and upper south. The midwestern and southerners, Canadians are not nearly as rude as the ones from MA, MA, NY. Even then I'm noticing more New Yorkers down here.

I moved to Naples in 2016 - single working mom with 3 middle school/college kids. If I could spin back time, I wouldn't have moved. While I love the weather and have adjusted to the lifestyle, it's been very hard to make friends here. And to your point - those I've met here can't compare to the lifelong friendships up north.

We have had a very easy time making friends down here. Lots of transplants with new people arriving constantly, also looking for friends.
