My family is relocating to the Nashville soon and we have heard that the best place to live is around Franklin. The problem is that I don't think we can afford the homes in this area to get the best schools. Private schools are out of the question, so what is the next best place? I have been looking at Spring Hill and Thompson's Station. Are their schools any good?

You might also consider Mt. Juliet and Hendersonville...fast growing areas with great schools and much closer to Nashville than Spring Hill/Thompson's Station.

Check out the homes in Fairview. It's located in Williamson County about 15 min. from Franklin via Hwy 100. More home for the money and most homes are on at least half acre lots. While Fairview is somewhat rural, it is perfectly poised for growth with the completion of I-840 by the end of 2012 (per TDOT). Commercial development is already popping up all along Hwy 100.

What is your price range? You can find a very nice home in Franklin for about $200,000. Of course it will be a small home about 1500 square feet. Spring Hill will be more affordable and is still in the Williamson County school district.

What is your price range, you can get a nice home in Franklin for about 200k, but it won't be the mcmansions that cause the average price in Williamson to be high. Rogershire and Fieldstone Farms has some cute homes at the lower end of the price range that are zoned for good schools.

To answer your questions, check to make sure you are on the Williamson County side of Spring Hill but the schools in Williamson are considered "the best" The County is opening a new middle school and high school in the southern part of the county next fall.

We don't want to go over $250K if possible. Also my husband will be traveling back and forth from Dickson and the Vanderbilt area. I have looked at Hendersonville since it is a lot like where we are coming from but it is just to far. Are the schools good in Fairview?

Fairview would be perfect for a Nashville/Dickson midway location!

I am very happy in Fieldstone Farms (Franklin). Didn't think I would be because houses are close together but it's really perfect for us. GREAT location and our house was only $225,000 and you can get many for less. Just started walking on the walking trails and they are very extensive - nice! Don't count Franklin out!
