It's getting more difficult for my Mom to GO anywhere. I think we are at the 'take a drive' stage. So, I am looking for scenic drives in the Nashville metro area.

Downtown Franklin
past Carnton Plantation
up Hillsboro all the way to downtown
past the Parthenon
Chickerling out to Cheekwood
Lynwood Drive hill from Franklin Rd to Hillsboro
Out to Leipers Fork

OK, that's all I got. Any other scenic drives around? I mean, it can be a street of cool old mansions. Thought about Werner Park but it's kind of just trees. Any other suggestions most welcome. I don't want to go too far - like Chattanooga - just within an hour of Franklin is good.

Thanks fellow Boardies!

Moran Rd to Old Natchez Trace, then south to Old Hillsboro. You can do that as part of your drive to Leiper's Fork, or you can head west on 96 and see the Natchez Trace bridge over Birdsong Hollow.

You could take one of those short train trips that the Tennessee Central Railroad Museum runs.

Wow! Great suggestions - all in time for lunch! I think she'd love the train but not sure I could get her UP many steps. Do you know if it's level for boarding???

During my drive tours I DO make Miss Daisy listen to Hippy Radio 94.5 . . . .

Thanks everyone!

It's not many steps, but there are some. They make special arrangements for people in wheelchairs, so they might have a ramp they can use temporarily, but I'm not sure.

My mother and one of her senior groups liked taking the Nashville Trolley tour. Not that that means much, the group went to Kentucky one time to visit the World's Largest Teapot Museum, or some such. And no matter where they went they would eat at Shoney's. Not exactly a group known for risk taking. :-)
