My Mom has a hankering for fried chicken. We tired a new place in Franklin but were more impressed at the moment with their fried oreo cookies. BUT they weren't totally up and running with their full menu. I am guessing Loveless would be decent. Take out would be easier for us.

So, fried chicken suggestions?????

Make it at home? It's easy. I like using an electric skillet for fried chicken and fried fish.

I've heard Gus's in Brentwood is good, but I've never eaten there. They advertise as a hot chicken place, but I'm guessing a regular version is available.

The Loveless chicken is okay, better than most restaurants, but then I rarely order fried chicken at a restaurant other than Swett's.

A little side tip I learned and it works. While cooking, if you boil water and pour peppercorns in it, it somehow eliminates/absorbs the smell of what you are frying so your house doesnt smell.

Honestly I think Kroger has some of the best fried chicken, I get theirs often... Also, Hot Stuff Chicken in Antioch on Bell Rd. at Blue Hole Rd. has the best hot chicken, but they also have regular fried chicken, Cajun, lemon pepper, and different levels of the hot. I don't consider Gus' chicken Hot Chicken at all, it's out of Memphis, so that tells you there it's not "Nashville Style Hot Chicken", but it's just ok to me, native Memphians don't even really eat it there.

Antioch reminded me. I think the Publix fried chicken is pretty good. They also have a rotisserie style and wings.

Yes Publix chicken is good, however it is a bit to floury to me, must be double battered, Kroger is just old school fried chicken. Publix does have good rotisserie chicken....
You can also find good fried chicken at Eddies grocery on what is known as the pike to locals, Lafayette street across from the projects in south Nashville. They serve meat and 3 in the back of the store at lunch. It's in the hood, but trust me they aren't worried about anybody coming in that store so you will be safe... People that work in the area go there for lunch all the time.

i'm pretty sure gus's only sells one version of chicken. it's pretty spicy but not hot. for some reason it does a number on my insides.
