I agree. It is a great location they chose, but does little to serve other Nashville surrounding areas.

I'm also surprised they didn't as well. Probably one goes in or something similar around one of the train stations in the future. Maybe around Donelson or Mt. Juliet station.

I agree--it is somewhat close to the TJ's already in Green Hills.

However, I do think Trader Joe's will invest more stores in Nashville, in the upcoming years.

I would think 2-3 additional would be planned. East Nashville would be a great spot, as well as Mt Juliet/Hermitage, and ultimately Murfreesboro.

Its all based on rooftops and income. Despite being the "discount" healthy food store, TJ still prefers upmarket areas. If they do a third, it'll likely be in Brentwood/Cool Springs with the Gulch as an outside possibility if the right mixed use development comes along.

That's far too close to each other and too much competition from similar stores. I could see one in Gulch or East Nashville though. Mt. Juliet area has not one healthy food store and has been salivating for one for years. Wilson Co. Is now the 2nd wealthiest county in state (behind Williamson).

The problem with the proximity argument is that people have demonstrated that they are willing to travel longer distances to their stores compared to similar stores like Fresh Market and Sprouts. There is also a greater density of affluent homes to support additional stores in the West Nashville/Belle Meade/Green Hills/Forest Hills/Brentwood area than anywhere else in the state. And if they were to open a store in Brentwood, it'd be at least 5 miles from the Green Hills location if it were to go in the Maryland Farms area or 10 miles if it went in Cool Springs.

Default Sears on Thompson

The Sears on Thompson Ln: is it still open? Like every time I drive past I think to myself what a waste of space it is. Stuff is starting to pop up around there, like on Sidco and I think that whole area between Berry Hill and Nolensville Rd (or even as far as Briley), and not including the cemetery of course, could be developed. Everyone is talking about trying to make downtown a big shopping hub, but I don’t see it. Downtown is tight, filled with tourists, and there’s so much untapped potential in areas 1-2 miles from downtown, especially south which hasn’t gotten much attention.

But anyway, yeah... the Sears... it’s not 1980 anymore so what’s the deal?

Do you mean the Sears Outlet? If so, yes, it's open. Just bought a dryer there a few weeks ago. It was fairly busy the weekend I was there.

I think their service/warranty center for the region is also based out of that location.
