I really have to wonder if the Boston bombers were settled here as refugees by the International Institute of New England. It is a question that needs to be answered. It's the same NPO that re-settles refugees in Manchester and through out NH, even though people are against it. I think it now can be addressed as a public safety issues. Sorry, to sound cold hearted, but you really have to wonder how many bad apples are out there right now because of this program. It should make the upcoming national immigration debate a lot more interesting.
On that same note...a lot of refugees end up here because they risked their lives to assist our soldiers & interests overseas and now need to flea their homes. So there are plentiful "good apples" as well... Just saying...
Totally agree with you. I've worked with several refugees before in two different jobs and they were great people. I just think we really need to be excessively stringent with policies like these. Just dumping people and saying, 'good luck' three months later is not an optimal operating procedure.
Agree with you Tug1980. This suspect that ran ot Watertown, there is a reason why they ended up there. If he is still at large, what's the bet that he is being "helped" by someone?
Does this International Institute of New England have a history of poor judgment or malicious pattern when helping refugees? I am just trying to understand.

I don't really know what all the fuss is about in regards to this particular organization or really anything about the organization- but in general a lot of refugee placement/help organizations tend to drop a concentration of a particular group in one area...and then that's about it. As a result the integration within the community is poor and subsequently the community pushes back- etc. There needs to be better follow-on support & help integrating; especially given that many of these folks had to leave their homeland in short order basically because they helped us to begin with. Not to mention economically- it makes sense to get people working & integrated as quickly/successfully as possible.

I see what you mean.
Perhaps the OP knows more about this particular institute and will share the knowledge with us all.
