Hi I am a Connecticut Tax Refugee relocating to NH on Jan 1.

1. I would like to get a NH Driver's license and then register a cargo trailer on the same day. It looks like I will be obligated to do a vision test...always a good thing.

2. Is a signed lease good enough to get the license?

3. Do you think this can be done in 1 day? What DMV branch in the Pembroke Concord Goffstown Hooksett Manchester area will have the shortest wait time. I am assuming DMV is open on Saturdays.

Looking forward to becoming a resident and not wanting to import any stupid ideas,

Ethan A.

Hi, in seven years of dealing with the DMV in NH, I've not one time been there longer than 45 minutes. Concord and Manchester are the two I've been to half a dozen times.

Concord is quick in my experience. Less than an hour is my guess for you.

Town Clerk to register anything. Local fees and state fees.

Driver license is a DMV stop. I think the DMV now mails out the new drivers license. Haven't done this in years so not sure. At one point the DMV would give you a temporary drivers license. Maybe others can chime in.

Have been to satellite DMV offices with no wait. Depends on time of day.

FWIW Some DMVs have their wait times posted here on the lower left hand side: https://www.nh.gov/safety/divisions/dmv/index.htm

This is pretty new feature so I don’t know how accurate it is yet.
