Take a look at Enfield. I have a friend who lives there and he loves it. Not too much there but the necessities, it's close to I-89 and shopping.

Well my problem is - me and my girlfriend will only have one car. Therefor commuting will be kind of a problem in the winter. She'll go to Dartmouth and I will go to Lebanon college. Considering my classes will mostly be late the bus is only a part of a solution. In the summer we'll both go by bike but I do not look forward to walk 2miles to my college in the winters.

In that case, live in Lebanon so you can walk to school and she can do the easy Leb-to-Hanover commute.

My sister doesn't drive and lives in Lebanon. It's a very walk able town providing you don't live on the very outskirts.
