I believe Wegman's had plans to open up in Turnersville a few years ago but it ultimately got scrapped. Not sure why.

I would love to see a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's in the Turnersville area. I do believe the area could support it. As it is, I have to drive 45 minutes from my home in Gloucester County to either a WF or a TJ, and I don't do that very often. Mainly because I hate Route 73 and the only alternative is Philadelphia. I think the demographics in the Turnersville area are right. TJs would be particularly attractive, their stores have small footprints and they could pick up one of the empty stores in the Turnersville area. Well, I can hope, can't I?

There's a Trader Joe's in Delaware in a shopping center behind the Target at Naaman's Road & Concord Pike. I used to go there instead of the one on 73 when I lived in Cherry Hill. I hated the parking lot for the store on 73 that much.

That's definitely parking lot hate. I used to just park in the Billig Jewelers lot. You can just drive in/out from RT. 73.

I didn't make the trip just to go to Trader Joe's, but always stopped there while I was in the area. Between trips I went to Pathmark & Aldi.

One parking lot hate that I have is actually the Marketplace of Garden State Park (such a long name) shopping center with Wegmans. Try navigating to Best Buy. One approach is drive down to the end by Home Depot, but then one has to backtrack through parking lot to get to the Best Buy.

The other approach (arguably worse) is making a right at Haddonfield Rd, then making a left into the center. One then has to drive through the smaller shops of the center and stop signs and oncoming pedestrians and cars. East Gate Sq. is a lot easier to navigate. I'm not into those large asphalt parking lots either, like the Target juxtaposed with Wegmans at Centerton Sq.

I do think the Marlton ShopRite is more accessible with the circle being removed and the new traffic light. I suspect the 70 Superfresh remained so long as it did, protected by the circle which made it arduous to cross for those east of it. Not as much anymore. The Marlton ShopRite still is packed during weekends, and will get more packed, and the trick to avoid the crowd is to go to the Union Mill Rd. store in Mt. Laurel. For many in Marlton, it's not too far at all, being accessible by back roads. But one can't get sushi or many prepared items at that Union Mill store (former SuperG) AFAIK. But those types of specialty stuff can be picked up from Whole Foods, etc.

Ok, I'm surprised that the Union Mill store remained while they closed the Brace Rd. store. I'd think the Brace Rd. store would pull from Haddonfield, and Haddonfield wouldn't want to shop at the racetrack. The Union Mill store's exclusive catchment is just part of Mt.Laurel. The racetrack store likely pulls from Camden and Pennsauken and the clientele leans very different. I'm hoping they re-open Brace Rd or another chain comparable goes in, given that the circumstances have changed with Genuardi's and Superfresh gone/going, Acme hampered, and likely Pathmark not too far off.

I understand the parking lot hate for Garden State Park. I rarely went to Wegman's because of it. In fact, during the circle construction, I jumped ship to Medford ShopRite.

Sorry if this was covered, does anyone have any idea what's going to replace the Superfresh that is closing in Westmont Plaza (on Cuthbert Blvd in Haddon Township)?

Likely no replacement grocery store. At best, CVS could infill although CVS has a freestanding store next to Acme on Cuthbert Blvd. But that space might be dated as the CVS building looks older/smaller compared to CVS' newer stores.

CVS tends to want freestanding but it has some larger regular plaza spaces as well, like the one off of Kings Highway in Cherry Hill, where it is the anchor of the plaza.

The Tri Towne Plaza in Marlton will be completely empty, except for TD Bank and Burger King outparcels and a dry cleaners:

I think a Walgreens and super Wawa combination (2 freestanding stores) might work, with the Wawa attracting Medford/Evesham commuters who could take Main Street and get into the plaza to get gas on way to commute, and Walgreens with a second Marlton store to be a convenience store/pharmacy for the homes in vicinity like Superfresh. Rival CVS has two Marlton stores.

In case anyone is interested in trying to get something good in the Westmont Plaza, you can actually request Whole Foods and Trader Joe's to investigate opening a store in a certain location. I would post links to the appropriate pages, but I'm not sure if that would violate the "no advertising" rule on the message boards (just Google "request Whole Foods location" or "request Trader Joe's location" and you'll find the forms).

I honestly don't know if the area could support either of those two stores, but I would think the right demographic exists in Haddon Township with Haddonfield, Collingswood, Haddon Heights and Cherry Hill all nearby. I've only been in the area for 6 months or so, but I know I'd definitely shop at either of those two. I'd actually prefer another Wegman's but obviously that's not going to happen with the one on route 70 in Cherry Hill. I just hate going to that shopping center during peak times. We've only bothered going to the Whole Foods in Marlton once since we've moved over here. It's not worth dealing with the traffic to get out there on a regular basis.

I'd also be happy with a ShopRite, or some other "regular" grocery store. I'm just hoping we avoid a discount grocery store, like Bottom Dollar or Ollies.
