My husband & I are considering relocating to North Jersey from Florida for a job in Paramus & wondering what neighborhoods we should begin searching. Our situation is no kids, one income right now so $1500 for a two bedroom would be max, $1200 would be better. Want to stay within a 30 minute commute. Any suggestions?

There are lots of towns around there, you're going to have to look around, I would try to stay nearby or you could even go across the Northern border to Rockland County NY. Sorry can't be more specific I drive through there a lot but don't live there. I'm sure you might find similar threads, that would be around Bergen County.

Within 30 minutes you could also go West as far as Rockaway or White Meadow Lake.

You can even go closer, thinking Lincoln Park, etc.

1200 for a 2 bedroom is entirely doable, just look around. Need to decide what you want. Close to Paramus? Paramus has just about everything but is basically a couple of highways and lots of malls and strip malls. I would look at Hawthorne, Fair Lawn, Paramus, Maywood, Rochelle Park, Oradell... really depends on what you are looking for though I think. Just a decent safe place to live... all of these will have it. Pretty much there are no towns that aren't OK near Paramus. Hackensack may have some areas you want to avoid.

Look into Hawthorne, Maywood, Rochelle Park. Oradell, Fair Lawn, Paramus you will pay more for and there is no reason to in your situation. Hawthorne is the longest commute but it is 15 minutes max.

Elmwood park, little falls, Woodland Park, Hawthorne. Places with rentals in that price range. All are fine places to live.
