I am a resident. I would love to open a Gelato cafe' here in Bayonne.
I love Bayonne and consider to open something here but i do have my reservations. I see a lot of businesses fail here, and many empty spaces.
Naturally, a business can fail due to many factors that are not related to location, but I cannot deny that there is trend in Bayonne.
What do you think, is it a good idea? would you like a Gelato Cafe here in Bayonne?
Yup , most Business's near the Light Rail / Bus stops have advantages over a Business's that are located on Highways or Major roads. Its mostly due to the foot traffic that comes with the Stop , food places do very very well.
totally disagree. the light rail stations are far, far removed from the main congregration areas in bayonne. you would ONLY get foot traffic from those taking the light rail, which I think wouldn't be enough to sustain business.
OP - to the obvious spot would Broadway between 22nd and 27th streets.
^ Not the New 8th Street Station , which opens in January. There are alot of business's nearby very excited about this. There is a small lot across form the New Station. And down the street there is some open space.

A lot? Not really. You've got the diner and some other small businesses, but that area is not the recipe for success. The more downtown you go, the more clientele you'll lose because people won't drive down there unless they have to (and even if they are going to Staten Island they'll be on 440, not the local roads) - which is the charm of downtown Bayonne - less congested than the rest of the city.
i dont know what's wrong with bayonne. It seems a nice safe area with a good concentration of population. Yet it's a business graveyard, just look at all the empty storefronts on broadway, most of the ones that are still open you can tell are barely getting by with old dirty windows and half falling signs.
It defies logic why business are failing so badly in bayonne...
