I had to do some shopping today. Instead of going to my car after every store, I just put my bags in the biggest bag and tied it. On my last stop, I had a shopping cart with my bag (clearly from another store) tied in a knot. I went down the aisle and left my cart at the beginning and the security guard comes up. Looks both way and lounges for my bag. That's right. He tried to steal my stuff. Instead of getting into a fight with him, I go straight to the customer service desk and complain. Surprise surprise. New hire.

Why is this "only in NJ"? NJ does not have a lock on thievery.

I doubt other people are stupid enough to steal in uniform on the job in other states. Maybe Florida.

The security guard tried to steal from you?

Would you be willing to say the town/city where this took place?

Who walks away from a cart containing personal belongings this time of year? Only in NJ.....

Since the security guard was working, what makes you think he was trying to steal from you anyway? He sees a cart containing merchandise, looks to see if the owner is close by, and intends to take it to customer service to hold is more likely.
Where do you suppose he would have stashed a bag while on duty?

OK, that's what I thought. Oh, that's not happened to me in New Jersey. It did happen once in Philly.

I didn't know I had to stay hand cuffed to the cart. He saw me there. He didn't know, I could see him too. That's why he looked both ways before lunging at the cart. He knew that merchandise wasn't from his store. He didn't return it to customer service. Despite him running off with it, I managed to get there "first" (I know you will counter this, but I KNOW he had no intentions of notifying anyone).
