Philly zoo I like. It's just the right size and not boring.

yes, but there's nothing wrong with having some smaller zoos with the basics nearby for the community to enjoy. just like i'll go to minor league baseball games instead of always going to yankee stadium. college basketball instead of NBA. etc. etc.

enjoy what's out there.

Hi. The list is incorrect. I questioned them about it, and they had no idea nor cared!

Just kidding. Seriously, I think if you want to see a zoo, just trek to the Bronx Zoo. The little zoos are really boring.
The Bronx Zoo is great if you want to spend the day somewhere, but it's almost too big and kids get tired. Turtleback is great. You can just go for an hour or two and it's right down the street from where I live. My wife and I went without our kid when we first moved to the area and were really impressed by it.

Van Saun is way better, you get the Zoo, the Train, The Merry Go Round and that amazing playground all rolled into one. Like everything in North Jersey it does get crowded so go early in the day in th 8-11am time frame.

TB has a train I think? They do have a beautiful carousel too. I like Van Saun better too, but maybe that's because it's closer to me. Or maybe because it's flat.

I think both zoos are fine as inexpensive places to break up the day when you have little kids. Believe me, we'll go almost anywhere sometimes. But I would never go to any of these places if we didn't have kids

yes turtle back also has a train, carousel, and playground. Van Saun is smaller and no petting area. You can make a nice day trip for the kids, spend a few hours at the turtle back zoo, head over for a round of mini golf then cool off with some ice skating at codey arena.
