Hi, I am trying to find out about traffic issues from surrounding towns into downtown Princeton. Which roads and in which direction does the traffic back up? Is southbound down 206 (say from Somerville, Hillsborough, Branchburg) a problem? What about from towns just over the border in PA (Morrisville, Levittown, Fairless Hills, etc.)?
If there are traffic issues, how early would you need to leave to avoid the rush?

206 is a parking lot and if you are coming from PA you are better off using the train from trenton than driving.
From Branchburg/Hillsborough, expect over an hour in rush hour traffic if you choose to go down 206. It took me an hour from that area into Princeton at 2pm. Either move closer or find a way to avoid 206.
Just avoid 206, although a good part of it is actually being bypassed by a four lane divided road, up to a certain point like Belle Mead or so. Don't know when the new one is going to open but it was being built about a year ago.
