Does anyone have any experience with this school, or know anything about it? It is easy enough to find town-by-town rankings of NJ schools, but since this applies to the county, I don't see it on a lot of lists.
For reference, I live in Springfield, so assuming my child got in, am I better off sending her to Springfield's High School or the Union County one?
So since 1/2 of the schools in Union County are probably better than it, I guess it is mostly filled with the better students from some of the poorer towns.

Looking at the report cards from the above link (I picked Summit and Springfield to compare), the Magnet High School performs considerably better in Math and Language Arts proficiency, as well as in SAT scores across the board. I also took a look at Millburn, and the Magnet High School was better in the same respects, though not by as broad a margin.
Based on the report card data alone, the Union County Magnet High School looks like a great school. I was hoping someone who has a child in the school could comment and provide feedback.

It a good school. But when your numbers are only based on 70 students that are hand picked and all of the other schools are based on all students (including special ed, and non college bound), you really can't compare.
I am just saying that if you are a student from Summit, Berkeley Heights, Westfield, ... and you could get into the magnet school, you are probably better off staying put since you overall education would be better. If you live in Elizabeth, Plainfield, ... and you can get in, jump at the offer!!!!
Lawrence College in Wisconsin has the highest percent of undergrads that end up getting phd's. Does that make it a better choice than harvard if you want to get a phd?
