I have heard bad things about Newark, however I have noticed it does have the cheapest rent. Any advice that I could get would be extremely helpful. Thank you
You can consider Edison, 3rd safest town in NJ, and apartments walk to Edison Train Station like Edison Village, Blueberry Village, Rivendell, Oxford Arms ...etc. From Edison Train Station to Newark Penn Stn only 20 minutes. You can also consider condos near Edison Train Station like Edison Hollow South, Woodhaven, Aspen Manor, Brookview Commons ... that you can buy or rent from individual owners. Info can be found at craigslist.org or realtor.com

I personal like Newark a lot, and there are many good things hapenning there including the brand new The Rock that to be home of NJ Deval and could be an NBA team. We are member of Newark Museum that is wonderful place to visit every so often, and that also entitle you over 200 museums and aquariums free visit. NJPAC gives you lots of high class shows and concert. Brand new Lightwave Rail also makes the city more positive energy.

If you happen to be at Edison area in winter, you may find rent is quite affordable due to many seasonal IT professionals from foreign countries finish their project and go home. But remember starting March 1, it would be getting harder due to many start coming back with new project at Wall St....

Does anyone know where I can move wherein the rent is affordable and the area is safe? I reside in South Jersey.

Rent in South Jersey is very expensive. I am also searching to relocate to an area out of the city. I miss trees and nature and need to be around the country. Does anyone know of a cabin community? What's up with Salem New Jersey? How about Pennsgrove and Woodlands? Let me hear from someone soon.

They're all very nice places, however it's VERY difficult to find nice places to rent in South Jersey, or places to rent in general.
