Wow, I live in Ocean County and have 4 kids that went to college. Didn't know you need a consultant to send children to college. I'll give my advice for free. Maybe a new job in a tough economy for me.

If your child is a junior, you should be getting mail already about "financial aid info sessions" and stuff like that. Start looking into it yourself, there is a lot of FREE information out there about the college application process. You can even ask your childs guidance counselor.

A younger relative is in the NJ Stars program. Basically if your kid has good grades in HS & qualifies, he can attend a 2-year NJ community college and move on to a 4-year school, including Rutgers, afterwards. He's doing well and has saved a TON of money in the process. Christie has cut back on the program somewhat but it's still one of the best deals going.

LOL, What? I have one kid and she'll graduate this year. I'll be glad to answer any questions, but I'm not an expert.

Not sure what the OP is looking for or what an education consultant does in the first place.

A lot of the burden was also taken off of me by the fact that my daughter spent so much time on the Internet researching colleges herself.

IMHO- not worth the cost. With a little research and a look at your HS Naviance history you can do it yourself.
