We are considering moving to Glen Ridge for obvious reasons. I have noticed that the properties around Chapman Place area are generally cheaper and have lower taxes.

Are there any issues with this area compared to the rest of the Glen Ridge? Would appreciate any responses.

Properties in that area are more "affordable" b/c of their proximity to East Orange/Orange

Chapman Place and neighboring streets are part of a pocket community ideal for young families. However, most backyards are considerably smaller and houses more closely placed. Also many of the homes only have 3 bedrooms and 1 and 1/2 bath. Once and a while you find a larger piece of property in the neighborhood and those homes sell for average GR prices.

Houses are cheaper because they're "newer" construction (for Glen Ridge - built in the 1930's, I believe) and were built to be smaller, more working class homes with smaller properties. Though you're close to East Orange, crime is no more of an issue there than anywhere else in Glen Ridge.

One thing you do want to look into is the radon issues they had at Carteret Park. Make sure you're comfortable with this before you move in. If you are, it's a great little neighborhood.

I live in Glen Ridge. There aren't any issues with any area compared to the "rest" of Glen Ridge. It is a very small town and every part of Glen Ridge is the same.
