I am constantly reading this (the long wait) but have never experienced it. Not once. I live in Mercer County, maybe we have too many gas stations? I think the longest I waited was maybe 2 minutes, with one other car there. Even during the Sandy gas shortages.
I would HATE to pump my own gas -- sounds like a prima donna attitude, but whatever... I hope we never give that up ...
I didn't understand the post you quoted (he was responding to me) because I don't have that apparent problem, either. Hard to comprehend something when you don't experience it.
Close to a lot of fun places (NYC, Philly, the shore, Boston, DC, the Adirondacks, Montreal, etc)
Climate (you get all four seasons without any of them being too extreme - summers aren't as hot as the Deep South and winters aren't as cold as the Midwest)
Cultural / ethnic diversity - New York City and Los Angeles are probably the only two places in America that can rival New Jersey in this category - you can find everybody there and nobody stands out because of their race, religion, skin color, etc.
You'll never be bored. I guess this can be a good thing or a bad thing, but NJ is the kind of place where there's never a dull moment. No dull people here either, there's a lot of colorful people in Jersey
Education - yes, public schools in Newark, Camden, etc. are terrible but once you get out to decent, middle and upper income school districts you have some of the best education in the country. Usually NJ ranks right up there with Massachusetts, Maryland, Connecticut, New York, etc. in terms of K-12 education. And at least they're not teaching creationism like they do in the southern states. As far as higher education is concerned, there's Rutgers and Princeton. Enough said.
Diners............nuff said. Everywhere you go, there's places open 24/7 that serve QUALITY food........not Waffle House or IHOP crap, but real food, 24/7, in practically every city and town in this state.
Character..........yes, there are too many cities and towns in NJ, but they all have their own unique personalities and characters.........also, most NJ towns are older and well-established. Neighborhoods don't have that sterile, unfinished look that Sunbelt communities do..........they look like real places with real people living in them.

They asked Christie & Buono if they'd be for self-service gas at the debate last night and both quickly replied "no"
And the residents that move away continue to haunt the NJ forum, because they just can't let go of NJ.
Seriously. There's at least 3 of them that are hung up on it. If they hate it so much why do they waste time on the threads about it? We're the forum of trolls and disgruntled former residents who clearly miss it here or else they would have moved out and never looked back - by not commenting on NJ centric threads. See, we're that great. You move out, you can't let us go.
