I've been searching for apartments in North Jersey on Craigslist for the past month, and there are lots of nice, brand new or close to new apartments for rent in Newark. Dishwashers, extra closet spaces, etc. And the price is very affordable.
I know Newark is considered a hole and is crime infested, but why are all these new buildings being built there? Most people couldn't find these apartments in more desirable Jersey cities for nearly this price range.
Elizabeth is way safer and you can find the same deals..
And even better than Elizabeth is Rahway.
At least it has changes that one can be optimistic about.
