Hello everyone,
I'm relocating to Rahway for work from the West Coast. I know nothing about NJ and I'm excited/scared about moving into your state! I am looking for a 1 bedroom with the wife and can't seem to find a nice one with availability. I've been looking from West Orange, west to Berkeley Heights, all the way down to New Brunswick and everything in between.

I get different advice from everyone, so I thought, why not ask you guys who actually live there for some. I like the idea of Westfield, Cranford and those towns to the west of Rahway, but not much apartment inventory. Also, most are out of my budget range. Has anyone heard of Duncan Hill apartments? I'm thinking they are in a good location, but the apartments are old and expensive.

Any advice would be appreciated and can't wait to call everyone neighbor!

Are you sure that those apartments are in Rahway?
The only Duncan Hill apt complex with which I am familiar is located in Westfield.
If that is the one to which you referred, be aware that there really aren't any bad locations in Westfield, hence the relatively high price for those older apartments.

The only negative thing that I could say about living there is that, if you are traveling to Rahway for work, you would have to take Central Avenue through the Clark traffic circle, and the congestion there is...considerable. However, that is a small inconvenience to have to endure for living in a nice town like Westfield.

Thanks for the reply Retriever. I did mean the Westfield apartments. I'm going to be renting without visiting, so I guess I'm stuck paying a premium to stay in a nice town.

Its always hard to find someplace sight unseen. Is there any way to stay at a hotel/motel for a few weeks or come out a few weeks ahead of time to see for yourself?

Some other very close (maybe more affordable options) would be Woodbridge Township, specifically Iselin, Colonia, Avenel. If you dont have kids, then Sunnyside section of Linden. A little further are Fords and Union. If your going to be working near US1, then you can go as far south as Edison and still only have a 30 min commute.
