  • Sliding Pond - ok, this is a bastardized version of "Slide Upon" - you know, a slide?
  • Not for nuthin'..but the weather really sucks today.
  • This may be very narrowly specific - "Hock a Glemmie" (anyone? Fisch?)
  • Of course, Going Down the Shore

OMG tahiti, I was born and raised in NJ and lived more than half my life there and NEVER heard any of these. lol

Of course, I lived "at the shore" so we said, "Let's go to the beach."

Oh and I read one on another thread... "Jersey Cut" ummmm What is that supposed to be?

"don't even get me started"...oh and did we invent the word "Hey"?...as we tend to start every conversation with "Hey,whatsup" ...."Hey, how ya doin'"..Hey, It's me" What about driving jerseyisms... and I'll keep it clean - like when the guy in front of you is driving too slow.... "hey buddy..it's the thin one on the right" referring to the location of the gas pedal of course or "knuckles and a cap going around the world to the right" referring to an older gentleman who can't seem to turn off his "blinker"..or turn signal for the non-jerseyans. Ahh..and my favorite.."you from Jersey?..what exit?" Ok, I'll give it a rest now : )

In central and south Jersey, some middle consonants like a "t" will disappear. So it becomes Sump-um (something), Tren-un (Trenton), 'Lannic City
