It is a bad area, PERIOD.
It's not at all gentrified.
I know several managers at the Jetro behind there - they have to chase prostitues and drug dealers out of their lots... it's not a great place to live.

The Beacon blows my mind, those buildings were always amazing...

The area around the Beacon is certainly not nice, but it's not the worst part of the city.

Tommy I would go a little further than not nice. If you drew a circle around the Beacon it is surrounded by 3 of the worst housing projects in the state along with run down tenement buildings.

What makes me laugh is some of these posters or new Beacon residents are not even from Jersey City, but they swear they know the area is safe.

Default Just Moved there

This is my first time on this forum and I have to say I question the information that is posted here. The neighborhood is not exactly the best but there is nothing here as "dope selling","trash" or anything like that, that I have seen. Ive been looking into a condo for over a year and was considering the beacon for a while. I actually say the neighborhood getting better in time. I am looking forward to enjoying my home here. This building has everything I could possibly want and more. I even can BBQ with my guests. My husband and I love it here

That is a gigantic ghetto right next to The Beacon. It borders both sides of Montgomery.

I hear some of those units have converted to rentals due to poor sales? Truth?

Default No rentals

The Beacon does have a few rent to own units and it also has investor owned units that are rented,. If you want a minimum 1 year lease and you meet the income requirenents you can rent here. The Paramont, formerly Murdock Hall, will be all rentals when it is developed. It was planned to be rentals. The development was always planned as mixed use with condobuildings, rental buildings, retail, office space, school space, a daycare, one or more restaurants, a Deli, etc.
