I know all about the Butties - I live with a scot..a real one : )) Not one of those.."hey, I'm scottish too...my great, great grandfather came over here in 1820..." I found this great scottish food distributor in Plainsfield - I'll see if I can round up the website for you. They sell the real bacon (Pork chops to us Americans), Haggis, really good short bread... Now Rugby - I tried out and made it onto a woman's team a few years back but decided not to go ahead with it as it's a brutal sport! These tiny little woman from kearney were kickin' my arse! And I'm not a tiny lassie! So I tried the soccer thing..Goalie at first - didn't do too bad. Then they stuck me out in the field - couldn't grasp that you weren't allowed to tackle players...American Footbal kind of tackling..lol : )) So I watch from the bench now : ))I see Scotland are on the bottom - 6 nations. It's funny though as my scottish pal says "but so is Italia" - as if that makes it better?..lol
Well I, for one, would love to see the website for the distributor in Plainfield pretty please!
I like The Chippery in Fanwood. I have tried Cameron's of Kearny in Brick which was just ok.,..... not sure if it is still open.
It's called Scottish Gourmet USA, LLC 43 Davis Street in South Plainfield, NJ. You can access their website via this address: scottishgourmetusa.gourmetfoodmall.com Wasn't too fond of the Muesli? but the porridge was really nice - better that Quaker oats..lol. I love their McGinger Bread Cookies...adorable - they have little kilts on them.

Thank you SO much! The McGinger bread cookies look fab!
I'm sorry that I cannot comment on the Warren County area, but have you ever been to Atlantic City's 'Feely's Irish Pub' on St. James Place?
That's a wee bit far for fish n chips but thank you anyway. Perhaps someone in here will read this thread and decide that Warren Co. would be a lovely place to open a fish n chip shop...anyone, anyone...
I've tried fish 'n chips everywhere I've been. So far the best I've found is right here in New Jersey at ABLE'S Drive in on Route 206, Long Valley.
It's a simple, but friendly place. The food is served on paper plates. The fish is batter fried and excellent. Equal attention is given to the chip (fries) which are cut large. Most restaurants serve only the showstring "quick" fries.
