Its not a bad thing for workers to want more. Those working at the Taj Mahal knew the stakes and still chose to strike. They were not making a satisfactory living. If they were they would not have the choices they did
And, now they have NOTHING...
Does not seem like a valid business model to my thinking.
Is a person better of with.... SOME... or NONE?
Well, I guess they have have their self respect and knowledge that they fought for something....
NO food, no roof over their head, no power from the outlets, no heat this winter...
But.... They have their pride.
Just understand, the last time I went to the bank and tried to cash a "pride check", they would not redeem it for cash.
BTW, is the Union going to make their mortgage payments until they get new jobs?
So many folks saying they aren't going to vote for the north Jersey casinos. They have been played by the AC unions. They watched and fell for their "bad bet" advertising hook, line, and sinker. They would rather these jobs, taxes, and money just leave our state, and that's just plain silly. They are just lemmings.
When AC was the only one in the game they were making money. Now the market is almost saturated, North Jersey casinos are only going to take another piece of the pie. A friend's plans got rained out yesterday so they went to Bethlehem to the casino. Maybe they would have gone to one in North Jersey but gambling wasn't really high on their list. I guess it was a good fall day to go for a ride.
It's funny how when workers want a raise millionaire/billionaires always seem to say, "I won't make a profit." Or is the reality, "I won't make the profit I'd prefer to make?"
Yes, they want a return on their investment, but it seems too many times these people are walking around with wads of cash in their pockets and the little guys are out on the street. Hostess bakery goes bankrupt, but upper management all walked away millionaires. Well Fargo cans 5300 workers for unscrupulous banking practices. One director "retired" in August with a $124million dollar golden parachute. The other one is getting grilled by Congress, is he going to give back his multi-million dollar bonus?
The difference between workers and managers is getting greater and greater, yet when the workers stick to the guns, they get blamed for putting the company out of business.
It's funny if Ichan took $2million less a year that would amount to an almost $1 an hour raise for 1000 workers, $2000 a year, not really big money $40 a week. That would buy a casino worker an extra tank of gas, maybe a couple pairs of jeans for their kids, etc. Money that would go BACK into the economy, a Billionaire might by a couple more shares of Apple computer or maybe their next takeover target, so they could bankrupt it and make another couple of billion in profit and put more people out of work.
Casinos have undesirable effects to a community. Most of NJ never reaped the windfalls of the AC. The money goes into the pockets of the politicians supporters.
I hate casinos. I hope north Jersey never sees them. Good riddance to the Taj. Atlantic City is one of the most disgusting places I have visited in the US.

So the fact that people want to essentially voluntarily pay taxes and create jobs is bad? This is especially true when, if there were casinos in North Jersey, a lot of that money would come from out of state.
As AC craters, those jobs and taxes are going away. Casinos in North Jersey would make up for them, and MUCH more. It's actively idiotic not to allow them.
Amazing how the Trump bashers can't even educate themselves on the fact that he has nothing to do with the casino and he actually unsuccessfully sued to get his name taken off it. But, don't let facts get in the way of your snarky comments.

They were not making a "satisfactory" living. Now they aren't making any living at all. And they absolutely deserve the fate they have chosen. It is a despicable crime that the casino could not dump this mob and hire whoever they wanted at whatever wage could be negotiated individually. In other words freedom. A concept which collectivistic unions hate since they need coercion and compulsion to steal what they cannot earn. Union members that operate as labor monopolies deserve to be unemployed and destitute. And the Taj workers that destroyed their employer should starve. And the other casinos should absolutely refuse to hire any union mob member who closed down their competitor and will one day be only too happy too close them too when their demands are not met.
A disgusting pack of wolves got their just desserts. I hope they enjoy it and think twice about what being a member of a labor monopoly really means: FAILURE.
Remember the Trumpster doesn't pay taxes, smart/genius
AGAIN, he doesn't own it.
