So what's next? Schizophrenic rights? Bipolar rights? We are talking about making believe a mental illness is not a mental illness. That declaring that reality is NOT reality, is something that should be "protected". That declaring that one may arbitrarily state what their gender is, regardless of reality.

It's patently insane. But guess what, insane people will soon be on the list of groups demanding rights also, so get ready for it.

Bruce Jenner was born a man and a male, Bruce Jenner is now a man and a male, and Bruce Jenner will die a man and a male. It doesn't matter if he changes his name, or undergoes surgical mutilation, or goes on talk shows wearing a white dress, or wears a white dress from now until his funeral.

The Law of Identity is immutable, a thing is what it is. And Bruce Jenner is who he is. Period.

Mental illness isn't something that should be used as a reason to deny basic human rights. Why wouldn't someone who is bipolar enjoy the same rights as you and me? You likely encounter people on a daily basis with a form of mental illness and the majority aren't a menace to society.

Besides a person who is transgendered doesn't pose a risk to society and certainly wouldn't be classified under "mental illness" as we think of it in pop culture. There is probably plenty to learn from them regarding how our assigned sex affects our perception on the world vs what is imposed on us through society.

It's such a minuscule percentage. We can't write laws for every variation of human psychology. Our public schools are very flexible in dealing with a myriad of special needs in their populations

CC Signs Trans Bathroom Rights Bill

Now that they've got that out of the way can they undo the Abbott Schools boondoggle and let EVERY citizen have a more equitable distribution of educational cash?

Basically this is a law that makes self-delusion a matter of public policy. It makes no sense. These people are in need of profound help, and instead we pass a law to suggest that they are to be declared "normal" and that everyone needs to cater to their condition.

Gender dysphoria, the new dumbed down term for this mental illness, is an incremental step. The goal is for psychologists to eventually buckle to political pressure and declare it a "variation". It's creepy beyond belief, and yet in the era of SJW political correctness, it will probably happen.

Because, as we have seen with climate, science is now completely debauched, completely for hire, and completely subjective. The Law of Identity has been repealed. Or so we wish, but wishing really won't make it so. Because reality is not governed by what you want. It's governed by what is. And as we see from the suicide rate of people with this illness pre and post treatment, catering to it does not help it. Making believe it can be "normal" does not make it normal and does not change the rate of self hatred and self-termination.

So now we will pass bathroom bills instead of heling people to deal with a profound illness.

the fact that this is an issue shows that it is the lunatics that run the asylum. the normal people just go about their lives while the nutballs try to push their agenda on everything.

I have no idea where you are getting your information, but it has been proven time and time again that conversion therapy does not work. It has been proven that trying to make someone something they do not identify with can be psychologically damaging to the point of being life threatening.

Please stop with the 17th Century Puritanical views. BTW, bloodletting doesn't work either.

Very true. Enacting laws which force people to use a bathroom their birth sex defines would be an incredible waste of resources. Is someone going to be guarding post and make you take off your pants or lift your skirt every time you need to visit the porcelain throne? What about people who are naturally androgynous? Remember the "cute girl" from Hanson? It can be actually pretty hard to tell someone's gender just by looking at them.
