NJ Governor Chris Christie Signs Bill Protecting Trans Students: Gothamist
"Create confidentiality plans to make sure school employees do not disclose a students transgender or transition status."

These are mental health issues, thus they should already be covered.

"Issue school documentation, such as identification cards, that match the student's gender identity."

Unneeded as it only affirms the student's delusions.

"Let students participate in gym class with the gender that matches their identity."

Only a matter of time before there are a bunch of high school boys claiming they're girls and should be allowed in the girl's locker room.

These sort of things happen when you have a lame duck, term limited governor. Especially when he is shunned by the party on a national level including the WH if said party holds there as well.

Stick around, CC has about four months left in office; there are bound to be more surprises. After all there is nothing voters can do to him, and he does not have to please the GOP caucus in hopes of getting an appointment in the administration. That boat pretty much sailed after CC cozied up to Obama after super storm Sandy, and that relationship has been pretty much on a downhill slide ever since.

So if a D student feels like an A student, they simply apply for a card and graduate with honors? that would be a transgrader.

CC needs a blood test for drugs and alcohol or the NJ portal of social justice union, formerly the njea, needs to be banned from schools to protect teachers and students.

Let's think of the least probable social issue and make more ponderous laws which can be challenged, appealed and reversed and give lawyers job security...all at taxpayer expense.

Is a law really needed?

Common sense not a prerequisite for school adminsistrators?

Deal with situations as required, using common sense and respect. the need for a law, proclaims the inadequacy of legisaltors and administrators involved.

0.3% of Americans are transgender

So much time wasted on a topic that affects so few

These cases should be dealt with on an individual basis like other rare psychological cases

Well good. That doesn't forgive everything else he's done, but it means i hate him marginally less now.

i think that is precisely why it's necessary to have a law. if the kids weren't threatened with discrimination there'd be no need to legislate.

Sad you see the world so black and white. There are Republicans who support trans rights, they're just likely not ultra-conservative. Most people are actually rather moderate and share views from both sides of the political spectrum.

I'm fine with this law and laws like it. Live and let live. Trans people aren't out to hurt anyone and just want to live like the rest of us.
