How long ago did you get the ticket? I didn't know your license could be suspended after one.. I knew this one guy who was actually arrested for having so many by cops who were at his apartment investigating other allegations, and my landlord's son accumulated about $2,000 in the Paterson and Hackensack areas because he thought he was invincible and could park wherever the hell he wanted (other people's driveways, handicapped spaces, overnight anywhere in Bergen County without calling ahead, etc..).. went to get his license renewed, and he had to come up with the money before they'd do it.
I've only heard of the extreme situations.
They will suspend after 1. In elizabeth, NJ, I fed the meter (.25 cents) and the meter expired. I got a $22.00 ticket which turned into a $45.00 ticket because I didn't pay it. Eventually, about 3 months later, I got a letter with a suspension date on it. I went online and paid the ticket. Once you get that letter from the DMV you gotta take action, they don't play around.
I just got the ticket about 4 months ago. It is the only parking ticket I have. So I would think that any one unpaid ticket in NJ will get your license suspended.
It's weird to think that had I been driving while under the influence, which I think is a very bad thing cuz you could kill someone, my penalty would not have been much worse, would it?
after you paid the restoration fee online, how long did it take to get your license re-instated?
also, did you have to mail in your license?
The form I have says to surrender my license.
just got off the phone with the MVC. Well, assuming I was given the correct info, I can pay it online and then call them, and then I'll be good.
What a relief.
I was anticipating waiting 2 weeks or more to get re-instated and not being able to drive.

Although you pay everying online, the DMV has to reinstate you. By mail, it may up to two weeks. I never surrendered my license. Actually when you get to the DMV they ask to see it for ID, so I never understood that. But anyway, as soon as you pay online, they'll pull you up on the computer and they'll see that it's been paid. It takes no more than 1 minute for you to be reinstated. I went to Wayne on the 2nd floor and they are so efficient now, you're pretty much in and out in less than 40 minutes, plus they have late days and saturday morning hours. I don't know if you can do it over the phone.

Damn. Noted. I'm usually good with paying my tickets asap so I don't forget... but there are times....
This happened to me about two years ago. At that time you could not do anything online. I had to go to the local municipal building and pay the fine and then go to the REGIONAL DMV in Wayne. The local DMV would not reinstate my license. For ONE unpaid parking ticket. Glad to see that you can do it online now.
My situation occured because my husband got a ticket in my car and ignored it. So I had no idea that I had a parking ticket (car was in my name). I don't recall getting any correspondense regarding the ticket until I received a letter stating my license was revoked. I had a two week old infant and an 18 month old at home, and it really sucked to shlep them all over town to fix this nonsense (yes, my husband does get father of the year award).
Pay your parking tickets, folks, its not worth the hassle.

This is soo funny. Up until then, the DMV was a complete nightmare but they have made it a lot better. I will say that much. It's by far not what it used to be. In and out.
