Phil Rizzuto lived up the block on the other side of Westminster Ave towards Hillside, Soupy Sales, all sorts of charachters.
The Scooter was one cheap sob. My friend worked for Bamberger's cleaning carpets way back and Phil gave him a 25 cent tip.
Been many years when you could classify Elizabeth as anything but working class. Not that that's a bad thing but if I had money no way I would move there. Their downtown is miles safer than Paterson.
Ok then is Elizabeth divided by ethnic lines then? Is there a black nabe, a hispanic nabe, and working class white nabe (maybe Irish?), or even a Korean Nabe? Lots of Korean in NJ.

Not to a huge extent. Pretty much every neighborhood in Elizabeth is majority-Hispanic. Maybe slightly more white people in the Elmora neighborhood, but other than that, I wouldn't say there's a significant difference between neighborhoods. If anything, I'd say the division is along physical infrastructure (e.g. I-95, U.S. 1 & 9, Northeast Corridor railroad tracks, etc). You get somewhat of a different feel for each of those neighborhoods on either side of these major corridors, but demographically, I wouldn't say that there is a stark contrast like you find in other cities.
