I also read that if youre PSEG customer (im not) that you get a $1,850 credit to install a non-Tesla charger.
Apparently this is for JP&L customers also. There is another option for a credit for a Tesla wall install.
I personally hate to pass up a good deal, but just cannot fathom another car payment and there really are a lot of cars i'd rather have over a Model 3. The used car market on Teslas has absolutely crashed though.

Question about the charger rebate: Both PSEG & JCPL program require a L2 charger from their approved listed, where all of them are J1772 type of charger. (not compatible with Tesla cars without an adapter )
If I opt to install a Tesla L2 wall charger, will the utility company reimburse me for any part of the installation cost? (such as the wiring from panel to the charger?)

Yes, the utility company covers the cost of installation, not the cost of charger. You will have to buy the charger. A charger is $400-600, depending on which L2 wall charger you buy, and installation will be anywhere from $500-1500 using a certified electrician.
My understanding is that the "approved" smart charger only allows you to get the Residential Off-Peak Credit. The installation cost will be reimbursed, up to $1500, for any L2 charger.

No, they won’t. Tesla chargers aren’t on the approved list. I went through this personally. Unless they Tesla charger has been added, they will not cover any costs unless you install one of the approved chargers.
Tesla reduced the price on Model 3 and Model Y last week so it falls under $45,000, and $55,000 respectively, which makes it eligible for federal and state incentives. NJ has some of the best incentives nationwide to promote EVs. No sales tax, plus $4,000 cash rebate at the point of sale for EVs under 45k, and $2,000 for EVs under 55k.
After considering $7,500 federal tax credit (which is based on income criteria/AGI), Model 3's effective price would be ~$35k, and Model Y ~$45k. Been hearing a lot of chatter from friends, neighbors, and coworkers who did place their orders. Seems we might be seeing a lot more Teslas in NJ over the months.
Mrs. Busch Boy and I briefly talked about it. Although I think the Model Y is the Tesla that offers the most bang for your buck, she is enamored with the Model S. Neither one of us like the Model 3. Plus at the moment, both cars are paid off. Once you completely own your cars outright, it really makes you think about having a car payment again unless absolutely necessary.
Plus, it looks like the $7,500 federal tax credit will be very short-lived. The credit just got extremely cumbersome. In order to get it, your Tesla has to be parked in your driveway by March, which isn’t happening unless you give up customization and buy whatever is available.
