I go to the beach at Long Branch, which isn't a big destination beach for either drunks or families. But when I was commuting, there were loud annoying young adults drinking on the train on Tuesdays one year because a bar in Belmar had some 50 cent beer deal that night.
Yeah I remember the drunks on the train as well. I used to be taking the last train back from NYC.
I may or may not have drunk a White Claw someone left on the seats lol...
they used to have bar cars on the Jersey Shore commuter train, don't know if they still exist. See these people stumbling off the train in Red Bank getting picked up by their spouses every night. I used to live in Long Branch many years ago on Sairs Avenue. Worked at night, slept on the beach during the day. Remember seeing Jaws there when it first came out.
Tough call, intoxicated people can be dangerous. When I first started driving my dad told me to always avoid intoxicated people and to never become intoxicated because of the danger. He also said said never pick up a hitch hiker or hitch hike. Just thought I’d pass that along.
Other than that, my big pet peeve would be loud cars and motorcycles driving late at night- early morning.
The disrespect the day Bennie's have for the citizens of the town they are visiting. Parking, trash etc. They assume the beach's belong to them but it 's the people of that Town that take care of them and make them a nice place to visit.
What's a Bennie? Is it like a shoobie?
I second this, although I call them cidiots (city idiots). And this is coming from someone who moved from the city. They rape and pillage the place.
September is the best time of year at the shore, weather is still great, kids are back in school, and 90% of tourists are gone.

Bar cars have been gone for decades, along with smoking.
Since the 60’s, my family has been buying houses in a little known, off the beaten path cove in the vicinity of Toms River. Currently 2 cousins, 2 aunts, 1 uncle, and my mother live within sight of each other. The “private” beach down the block rarely sees more than a handful of people. I launch my ski less than a mile away, swing around to the beach, and we all hang out for the day.
This has been my shore experience most of my life. I never did the house rental thing, though I visited friends’ rentals a handful of times throughout my 20’s.
Crowds aren’t my thing, especially not when I am trying to enjoy a beach day. We bring our own drinks, bbq back at the house (walking distance) and cap it off with ice cream from a local creamery. That’s a day.
