In 2015 the percentage of white residents in Millburn Short Hills is close to 80%. The percentage of asian residents is 17%. In 2018, 68.9% white, 23.5% asian. In 2020, 57.8% white, 31.9% asian. Latest, 35.56% asian. And it's only accelerating: currently in the elementary schools the asians are the largest ethnic group. Purely out of curiosity, why are white residents selling and moving away? Where did they generally move to? And then - what specifically about MSH that attracts the asian population? I'm guessing the schools, but MSH has a much faster increase in asians than nearby towns that also have killer schools like Livingston, Summit and Chatham.
Asians generally want to move to the best school districts since they value education so highly. Also since the Asian population is increasing, that’s more of a reason for them to move there as they won’t be the only Asians there.
A similar trend is happening in Scarsdale in Westchester County NY.
Livingston is 28% Asian, so it's not that far behind. But yeah, the "prestige" school districts attract Asian parents; West Windsor is 49% Asian, for instance.
Probably not worth it for non-Asian residents to pay astronomical property tax rates when they know their kids can be more mediocre in school and become the CEO and the boss of the person who scored 1600 on their SAT anyway.

How many white students go to "private schools in the area"? There are a good number that attend other schools and always have. Newark Academy, Pingry, Oak Knoll ,Kent Place and St, Rose to name just a few.

Not Millburn but I went to HS in Livingston many moons ago and I can tell you there was one guy who went to Pingry and another who went to a private school in Ps. Perkiomen. Everyone else went to the HS in town.
As more Asian families become more affluent, especially dual income professional families, they will go beyond the usual Asian neighborhoods looking for better schools, commute, and convenience. Most of these are/were predominantly white neighborhoods, and the influx will continue for the next decade or two.

No they didn't. You're telling me only one person in the entire town of Livingston went to a Private school? Newark Academy is in Livingston add in Delbarton and Pingry , Seton Hall or Morristown Beard School. LOL not buying it and I'm not even adding the girls at Kent Place or Oak Knoll.
