Since South Jersey is out of the question for me, then I will venture into Central Jersey which is easily accessible to NYC than S. Jersey. Where are the best Central Jersey locations to live and is it affordble compared to North Jersey?

It depends. What are you looking for when you move?

On the whole I don't think Central Jersey is much cheaper than North Jersey if at all but it really depends on what you want, where you're looking and what you consider affordable.

So far Hamilton sounds good to me..
Hamilton is a big township (about 40 sq. miles) with a huge choice of housing options. Parts of this township border Trenton, you'll want to stay away from those parts.
The Steinert School District is one of the most desirable areas.

There are lots of parks, day cares etc. in Hamilton and the train station is pretty new, maybe 8 years old?

Good luck with your search

How much are you looking to spend?

As I say in many posts, Metuchen is a great little town.
